But "next" means nearest, n'est-ce pas? Always winds me up when the other side of the family does this to me.
It reminds me of the chairman of the board of a big organisation I was advising about elections to the board, where the rules said that, each year, a third of the elected directors (or the number nearest to a third) should step down. There were nine elected directors. I said that three should step down, because a third of nine is three. The chairman said that two should step down, because two is the number nearest to three. CSB.
Wish I could join this ride (or that ride) but I has a meeting after work at which i will probably be discussing interesting things like the difference between 3 and 2.
