How do you suppose you'd do that?
-
• #3
Magic?
-
• #4
you'll definitely need a negative shim, search on here, it's come up many times.
-
• #5
It's a hinged stem, so it definitely open wider than advertised. Maybe it'd take larger diameter bars if I used a curved bolt?
I'm half serious, did no-one notice that it's a hinged stem?
-
• #6
The curve of the clamp area won't match the wider circumference of the bars, I'm not sure if you're being serious. Curved bolt? How does that turn to tighten?
-
• #7
Curved bolt? How does that turn to tighten?
A curved nut (and a curved allen key) obvs.
-
• #8
i think it will work...
-
• #9
You're a curved nut
-
• #10
Cool, it won't
-
• #11
oh come on... why are you so negative? of course it wont fucking work! i just want to get a couple more laughs from this thread pls... slow day in the office
-
• #12
Well we could have gone on arguing about it but now you've ruined it for yourself
-
• #13
Nah, you're not getting it.
Look, I made a diagram:
-
• #14
The curve of the clamp area
Can I fill in the gaps with bar tape?
-
• #15
yeah i think you could
-
• #16
Hahaha excellent. You're not getting it. A 26mm clamp won't fit 31.8 bars no matter how open you can get it
-
• #17
Yeah why the fuck not. Go for it. It'll definitely work, my bad.
-
• #18
I was sceptical until I saw your diagram, but I really think you're on to something.
Definitely worth a try. -
• #19
Cheers mate. I'll report back.
-
• #20
great diagram by the way.

Schematics for a sock puppet?

Forever negative

Bollocks it's a great diagram
If I have one of these: http://velobase.com/ViewComponent.aspx?ID=67c06504-42f4-4843-8d9d-2548b72416e6&Enum=102
(can I) / (is it a good idea to) put in some 38.1 oversize bars?
