It's a hinged stem, so it definitely open wider than advertised. Maybe it'd take larger diameter bars if I used a curved bolt?

The curve of the clamp area won't match the wider circumference of the bars, I'm not sure if you're being serious. Curved bolt? How does that turn to tighten?
Drawn to scale before exporting. Two possible positions: I'd like to see the proposed bolt that will deal with this, even with broccoli juice.
