• cue raging taxi driver taking photo of the two collided vehicles, even though in the eyes of the law, he's probably in the wrong.

You have to admire the continued stupidity of those too dense to understand the laws of the road who then happily incriminate themselves with their own proof or by showcasing their complete lack of understanding.

Like the twat who drove into me in his van who after not turning up to court the first time and getting a summary judgement must have used a template letter from the net to get an appeal hearing (forcing me and the kind witness who stopped in his car to take a day off to go to court. )

he stood up in court to defend himself and literally did not have a single question to ask me (the victim) even when the magistrate verbally gave him 3 as examples (what was the conditions, was it dark and was I well lit, had I seen the driver) he just said "ummm no questions your honour" and the prosecution read out the piles of evidence against him asked him if he'd seen me (he had), asked if he thought he had right of way turning left across bus lane and cs7 (he did) asked if he failed to stop at the time of the impact and only came to a stop when I shouted a swear word at him and he decided to exit his vehicle to try and fight me (he had until he saw how many people were around). they asked me if it was daylight (it was) did i have lights on my bike (as dusk was approaching i did) if he was indicating (he wasn't) was i cycling behind him when he turned (nope, he accelerated ahead of me and swung across my path at the last minute).

so convinced was he that he was in the right he just assumed by showing up in court that it would be clear to all it was the fucking cyclist at fault. but the magistrates all thanked me very kindly for my testimony and told me i was welcome to stay if i wanted to hear the verdict but I was free to go then they turned to the defendant with a look that could curdle milk that basically said "yur fucked m8".

I regret not staying to hear the final verdict (was quite a stressful day reliving the incident and wanted to get out of there as my injured calf muscle which had healed fully began twitching/spasming again while i was on the stand the same way it had been just after I was hit).

  • Get run over is shit, but that day in court sounds pretty satisfying. Though I can see how feelings might be different in the first person.
