I've been surpised a few times by Froome being in the mix on sprinters stage. Obvs never for the win, but does often come in quite high up

Not contest per say, but in messy finishes he does occasionally get top 10's just from not wanting to get caught in a crash

Kirby did say that Froome is a pretty good sprinter when "he wants to be", so maybe he was just having a go.
