Late to the party but everything is good. Depends what capacity you're going in?
If you want modern places designed for food bloggers they've got those in abundance. Turnover of restaurants is fast (faster than Singapore's food scene as they don't seem to settle) so chances are anything written here will be out of date by the time you're there - if that's the experience you're looking for.
If you're not too snobby then there's plenty of great and super cheap food (my preference was for Hokkien/Hainanese (Jalan/Lorong Petaling) and Southern Indian dishes (Brickfields/Bangsar - the latter is a bit of a trek from KL Sentral).
As @aggi said, try Jalan Alor. It is touristy but I still really like the theatre and shitness of it. It's a sweaty, stinky mess of a place at night and it's heaven. Rotten plastic chairs, dirty tables, cold (sometimes) beers, tanks full of fish and crabs, gas stoves doing their hardest and loads of stuffed, happy people.
Anyone been to Malaysia? I'm gonna be in KL for 6 nights at the end of the month, wondering what's good to eat.
