any kind of suicide hub illegal in a CTT time trial
Enough loctite (or JB weld) would do though I imagine? Even if someone were to check, it could take a few hefty skids to pull it loose, something I cant see a race organiser doing 20 minutes before a TT

Even if someone were to check
By the same logic, take EPO for domestic TTs. There's less than 0.1% chance you'll be tested.

I emailed Walker Bros. asking if their Fixxer would work with a Wide Boy:
"No I'm afraid the fixxers are not compatible. We are working on a fixed wheel adapter for the WideBoy but it's likely to be next year until it's ready." -

Brian got back to me and says he can make either the Revo 1 or 2 with a 25mm clincher rim...

Using a fixxer on a spok to save money isnt going to uneven the field, as taking EPO would, which when it comes down to it is the point of having rules in the first place (and safety, but in a TT youre only going to injure yourself (probably))

I managed an accidental shoulder-barge when passing my minute man a few weeks back on a windy DC section

I've been swapping emails with Brian and am very impressed so far: quick, informative replies and flexible on spec.
Unfortunately, but understandably, he can't use the rim and hub I sourced for the rear so I'll be getting a Revo 2 but using the Wide Boy rim (which he has manufactured to order) and the 7600 hub from the Revo 1 for £450.
Considering my particular requirements (wide clincher rim, fixed hub, 46mm chainline), I'm more than happy. Being from an independent, UK manufacturer with Brian's racing pedigree is the cherry on the top!
I'm paying a premium over a RALTech set-up, but for a "true" disc I think that's quite reasonable. Aside from the fact that RT aren't currently manufacturing, my limited experience of them suggests they're not quite a "fit & forget" solution.
I'll have the money together on 24th and lead time is two weeks...

That sounds very reasonable considering I paid £200 for a slightly damaged and 2nd (if not 3rd or 4th) hand disc, albeit geared.

That's pretty decent. Will you have to respace the hub to get your chainline? Wonder if he could build one around my Powertap.
-
• #336
Nope, he'll do all that.
Definitely worth asking, although I imagine it would depend on how the PT compares to the hubs he's set-up for: that's why he couldn't use my hub and rim.

Being as I don't know of any other disc that meets my requirements, I think the price is very nice!

Most Heds (NOT Specialized) with a black steel rotor should be convertible. I'm not sure whether some very early Heds may have the non-convertible 6200 pattern freehub which was used on all the Specialized freehub wheels.
A strict reading of Regulations would make use of any kind of suicide hub illegal in a CTT time trial, but fitting a rear brake caliper would at least make it pass the "road legal" part of the Reg.
