  • It’s been a shit time over the last 12 months, culminating in losing my Brother to the big C in April. Cycling mojo gone to be replaced by copious amounts of larger. Anyhow time to get a grip and man up. Have been on the hunt for a decent old Colnago Master for years but they are either not in my size or at space rocket prices. Then I spotted one of these available in the UK. Quick call to my LBS, and yes so it begins my way to rekindle my love for the bike.

As it’s a new frame it’s going to have to be a current spec build so plan is:

2016 Colnago Master Frame LX21 Mapei
    2016 Campagnolo Shamal Mille Wheels
    2016 Campagnolo Super Record Groupset
Colnago Carbon Seatpost (NOS) got one from early ‘00
    Vittoria Corsa G+ Tyres
    Deda Trentacinque 35 Alloy Stem
    Deda M35 Carbon Handlebar
Selle Italia SLR Kit Carbonio Saddle
2 Elite Ciussi Gel Bottle Cage Black
    Campagnolo Ergo Downtube Bosses
    Campagnolo Record 1 inch Headset
    Campagnolo Seatpost Binder Bolt
    Colnago Techno Bar Tape

  • sounds like it will be a stunner!

  • Hope so, could have had a new Arabesque but this paint scheme was the deciding factor

  • Sounds amazing and beautiful frame!! Is it a limited edition new build? Doesn't look like it's on the Colnago website.....

  • Awesome frame. Subbed.

  • Winner!

  • If you haven't bought the stem and bars yet maybe consider not going for 35mm option. It looks bit odd on traditional steel frames.

  • The Holy Grail of Masters - good luck to you! Subbed.

  • This build will be safe as f*ck!
Good luck with it, looking forward to see the final result!
If I had the money, I would have chosen the same grouppo + wheelset for my current Rossin Prestige build! ;)

  • Not one to let the grass grow under my feet, sorted the wheels over the weekend whilst everything else is on order.

  • Hope the braking surface wear is not as bad as some of the stories I've been told

  • First of all congratulations with this amazing frame.
One question; don't you think it would be nicer to go with a silver seatpost, stem and handlebars to go along with the chrome?

  • Oof - dem wheels

  • Interesting, lovely frame. Cyclist magazine reviewed a couple of months ago.

  • Mother of God! This is going to be good!!! Sub!

  • Latest update, groupset and other bits have arrived, now just need the frame. Thanks for all the comments, and building a Master is always going to create lots of opinions, I thought of many build options but came to the conclusion its a brand new frame, so should have current top end Campag. Although its Mapei colours possibly should have been Shimano, but I'm old school and all my bikes have to be Campag
