I was just going to just varnish without sanding, but I've added another coat of glitter and there is a bit of liquid run that is visible. Your glitter effect looks great, was that also Montana paint? And any tips for sanding?
PS there's masking tape on the bottom of the downtube.

Found half a Campa Croce d'Aune groupset "by accident" last week so I will start rebuilding my Eddy Merckx Corsa Extra "Team Stuttgart" soon.

I'm currently tweaking my wife's Dawes Civic runaround to make it look a little swankier (it's practically NOS and has so far responded well to a leather saddle and fewer shit reflectors).
I'd like to replace the wobbly weinmann brake levers with something a little nicer:
Any recommendations on an all-silver coloured flat bar brake lever that's simultaneously cheap and not crap?
Was thinking tektro fl750s but I'm struggling to find them in all silver. -

No, I used spray.bike stuff and did a light sand with 800 paper just to give enough adherence for the top coat to cling to (and smooth any egg-shelling). Considering Montana Gold/Glitter for decal spraying though.

Check sjsc and chain reaction, shimano has a few options.

Yeah, i think i'll struggle to mount them to the bars...

facepalm
however, if you fitted a caliper to each end of your brake cable, squeezing one would close the other right? so I'm not THAT wrong...
-
• #108387
I could run a cable loose with a calliper on it that could be gripped between the teeth, for no hands braking. Brake pads round the wrong way for enamel-friendly cushioning?
-
• #108388
get a cable splitter for the front brake and then you can use two ends of cable like reins, dispense with bothersome handlebars all together.

Or...

This is all gold - definitely doing. My wife is going to love what i've done to her bike!

Well, it's here... Pretty happy with the condition overall, apart from maybe having to hammer down the seat post? We'll see about that anyway. Separate thread to come!

Inspired by @jambon 's awesome Walvale porteur and a long weekend in Toulouse on hire bikes I've just added a 1x9 groupset to my previous single speed with some VO Milano bars. I'm loving the new setup around town. Not as fast as with drops but but definitely fun and a lot more relaxed for pootling about. Could do with a few more additions including a rack and guards.

Sweet!
Took some force to get the seatpost in on the Osca, I'm very much hoping that I never have to take it out as it will be an utter bastard

Squeezing a caliper will just loosen the other one won't it? As it frees up cable. not tightens it.
I think you'd need to ride around with it squeezed and let it go when you want to apply the brakes.Sounds safe and cool either way.

IF YOU HAVE KINESIS FORKS READ THIS ASAP
'Supplier Upgrade Bikes is urging cyclists to heed product recall notices after receiving just 246 of a possible 2,000 Kinesis carbon forks recalled in 2015.
The Racelight T forks made between 2003 and 2009 were subject to a recall after the death of a cyclist last August. A Coroner ruled this week that Jonathan Weatherley died from injuries sustained after his Kinesis forks separated under braking.

Awesomeeee ;D

You're right. It would be a dead mans switch and therefore really safe.
If my wife lost consciousness at all while riding, the bike would safely come to a stop.

Looking good! Think guards are possible with the current wheels?Looks quite tight like my bike.
Went on a 30 mile ride this morning through Epping and the bike performed well - downhill at 35mph it felt solid with no front wobble at all. Up hill was challenging, with just the front ring and the swept back bars felt more suited to casual city riding (which it does 90% of the time).

Building up the Merckx "Hitachi"; not sure about what colour to choose (silver stem and seatpost or black??).
-
• #108400
Silver in this case, to balance out the black on the rest of the bike.
Would have said hello but was hustling it to Dalston to buy a 6800 group.
