  • Their new DH tyre is looking on point I see

  • This is for ma Stanton, yo.

I stopped before making some crass joke about Dan's mother, Murica!, and thick rubber.

  • I haz 2.4 Nobby Nick snakeskin and 2.35 Rocket Ron snakeskin

  • Nic always strikes me as too aggressive for an XC tyre. Supper laggy. But I'm going to try it anyway. Feels like they need something between Ron and Nic.

  • 2.4s mooar draggy but whole different ballgame of grip/descending.

Conti similar gap - Xking = Ron, Trailking = Nobby Nic.

Need Rocket Nic or Nobby Ron. Maybe get the cutter out

  • anyone ever venture to Crowthorne Wood close to Swinley forrest looking for somewhere new to ride just wanted to know if it was worth exploring ?

    cheers!

  • Couple of tyre questions...

What's the Conti equivalent of an Ardent/Ikon pairing? X king/Trail king?

Any suggestions for something 27.5x1.9-2.0 or maybe a small 2.1 for general purpose CX-type riding?

  • Yes - Gorrick hold some races there.

  • I swapped my Ardent/Ikon pairing to to a X-King/Mountain King and appear to have similar levels of grip/rolling resistance. The Trail King looked a bit heavy for general XC use.

  • Ah I meant raceking, not trail king. Mountain king/X king it is then I think :)

  • I'm counting down the days until a weekend at BPW on the 18th and 19th.

    can't. fucking. wait.

  • Cotic bikes demo day going on in the Surrey Hills this Sunday. Meet up at the Holmbury St. Mary Village Hall.
It's an open demo so just turn up and swing a leg over a Cotic.

The demo guy Sam, has unfortunately broken an arm in a mishap involving a jump, so Cy himself will be there.

  • Spotted one of the new Marin Pine Mountain 1s in one of the LBSs today. Anyone ridden one? First plus-bike I've seen that I'd actually want to own, that frameset is fantastic looking

  • I love them too.....the rear stay/seat bridge bit

  • Presently on my way to Bike Park Wales for three days of uplift assisted fun times.

  • Sweeeet awesome place

  • Blimey, not sure I'd survive 3 days in a row!

  • Key word being Up Lift.

    Enjoy.

Needed a change from the 456, so I'm in the process of building up a DB Prince Albert in 853.

  • Uplift is nice and all, but it was the constant pummeling from hard, rocky tracks that broke me.

  • I don't mean to Scobel you with obvious advice, but it sounds like your suspension and or tyres aint set up right or are inadequate if BPW is killing you.

  • Hardtail with ~120mm at the front. I could get down the trails fine from a technical point of view, but there are no smooth sections and the constant vibration takes its toll. My mate on his Orange Five fared no better.

  • Your tyres must be too narrow.

  • You'll have to let me know next time you're over this way and let me try your fat bike.
