FS: Genesis Volare 853 (52cm)

Posted on
  • Reluctant sale but I've replaced it with the stainless steel version (not convinced it any better!) Full build or may split.

    853 frame with Enve forks
    6800 groupset
Superstar wheels with pacenti SL23 rims (gp4000s 25mm tyres) (not the wheels shown)
saddle will be swapped over to something else...

will probably swap chainset over to standard compact instead of the 36/46t

Covered just over 1500 miles and in excellent condition

Not sure how to price it but the frame and forks were £999 so £850 for full bike? located in Manchester

  • Incredible bargain

  • bugger, I did say I had no idea on price!

  • oh, and pedals will be removed (keeping the xtr ones)

I'm 5' 8" and fits perfectly (for me) with 110mm stem

  • They only seem to be Small, Medium etc now? Any link to the original size chart?

  • lovely bike for a lovely price

  • Pretty sure it equates to the current 'small' but I can't find original geometry chart on the net. If need any dims off the actual frame let me know

  • Thanks, never thought I'd sell it till I got the offer of a cheap stainless one

  • I have one of those and can confirm it's really good bike at a good price.

  • thanks for geometry chart and agree, i'm just a sucker for shiny frames - ti or stainless

  • I'm trying to convince my GF to buy it but she's not having it sadly.

  • thanks for trying!

  • This is a bargain although I dont think there would be huge diff between this and the SS version. That Focus is a better shout ;)

    #Carbon4lyf

  • I already have the SS version and it appears to be very similar but looks even nicer than the 853 frame. I've done the carbon thing and apart from weight they offer no advantages (to me) over steel/ti/ss - however appearance wise I prefer the later.
I have not intention to race or train so as long as the bike looks good (to me) and performs well (minimum 6800) how 'stiff' the bottom bracket area is, etc is of little concern.

  • offer no advantages (to me)

Very surprising! The power transfer you get on carbon is unlike any for me. I am riding a macho man, CAAD10 and Emonda SL .. Emonda is just out of this world when it comes to staying fresh on a long ride as a result of it requiring less power to go at same speed. I am not sure about carbon's dampening properties. But for anything else, carbon wins (for me).

I don't train or race either, just instagram.

  • Maybe I'm just not producing the watts you do? With a young family I'm lucky to get out for more than my long commute home - 40 miles so.
I do have spare sram red groupset & CK wheels sitting round and have a supersix itch which needs scratching at some point.
my current rides are caad10, volare, pickenflick cx1, pugsley, big dummy, kish ss and a moots rouut to be built up - so I do like a variation and a 'build'

  • fair, I have no idea why this hasn't shifted .. total bargain

    dibs moots ;)

  • I'm supersickpro and ride one of these, no more endorsement needed.

  • oh my

  • thanks, enough for me
