I'm on a terribly restrictive budget, but it does appear the KX2200 is a more comprehensive kit for the money. It is probably more powerful than I will need for my applications. Thanks. Must also factor in some gloves. I'd prefer the paint blisters, not my skin.

There's an HG992 in a charity shop in town, £8 boxed. Haven't checked condition but everything is at a minimum PAT tested. By the box graphics I'm guessing 90's.
EDIT: B&D website states last manufacture was 1984. Maybe 30 years is a little too far to stretch on this kind of device.
EDIT EDIT: Further reading, first I need to find a lead-paint test. Hadn't even considered the risk when I stripped back part of the old white paint by hand. Oops.

What's the best value heat gun? I want something that is around that £ mark, likely seldom use after stripping a wardrobe of paint.
Must be good enough to melt little army men into a puddle, or it's no fun.
