  • ^. yes please

  • Poking my head back into this thread reminds me of how much fun I had rolling in the woods in the winter time. Is summer cross as fun?

The bike cleaning though, that sucked.

  • How does it work - do I need to have a race licence or anything to race?

  • i think it's usually BC license (or pay £3), then payment for the league registration (lasts for the 4 legs), then pay for individual races.

  • .

  • does anyone have a link to the summer series FB? I can only find the twitter

  • Thanks -

Considering I've never raced before will it be an utterly miserable experience or quite fun?

  • Fun

  • Cross is like a mullet, serious at the front, party at the back.

  • brilliant, it'll be brilliant. I spent most of last season at the back, but you'll have your own race with whoever's there with you, so don't worry about being shit. in the summer it'll be even better as chances are you won't have to go home cold and wet and there's less chance of your rear mech exploding for being too clogged with mud. But seriously, it's so good. even when it's shit it's good

Someone wasn't there then for the summer mech massacre of herne hill 2014.

  • Normally the Summer Series is run as Go Race events, so no license required.

  • Ok, now I'm excited. Def. doing this.

I'm off to the park to learn how to re-mount without squashing my balls.

  • Land on your thigh. Try not to land on your knackers.

  • This sort of advice is invaluable. Do not land on testicles- very simple.

  • You're welcome. I must try and practice what I preach though.

  • Ah, I sense another opportunity to post my favourite video of lars van der haar and his massive...skill set

  • That monster gear ratio of yours will still hurt ;-)

  • I'm going to sort this out next time we're in the woods together. It will be 39x20! Although happily the 39x16 ratio I'd used a few times has been great for TNRC :) but also :(

  • Summer Series latest.

Round 2 has been moved to Wednesday, July 27th and is at Hog Hill (Redbridge Cycling Centre to give it it's official name).

Round 4 will be at Herne Hill.

Details on the other two rounds tbc.

  • Summer Series yay

    What Jonesy said...

  • Better start training... :/

  • Me too....

  • Any high-volume, early season, tubeless tyre recommendations? Not a massive fan of file treads as I don't carry a van full of tyre options to races, so something of an all-rounder that won't slide given a little dampness would be good.

  • Went for WTB in the end. Will be Cross Boss for summer and early season races then the narrower cross wolf for the mud.

On which topic, I'm moving over to tubeless for good and have too many tubular wheelsets taking up space which are unlikely to be used in the near future. See here for more details.
