some 2x4 joists for the frame - length and how many depends on the size of deck. (got mine from GNK in Norwood)
loads of deck screws - I used 400.
Deck boards - i used wickes as they had a 2 for 1 deal on nice wide ones. Again, length and how many depends on size of deck + a couple for the sides.

Level it out roughly, lay out supports, position joists - adjust so they're level, screw joists to supports, lay and space deck boards, cut to fit awkward shapes, drill hundreds of guideholes for screws and screw together, add edging, apply sealant / stain. Jobs a good 'un.
