I think you need an ntv650
I had one before, fantastic handling, simple looks, nice torquey V twin.
Still in my mums garage but needs a lot of work, a project for me for the future.

Thanks for all your comments, I first posted that cafe racer and see what people have to say, and you confirmed my thoughts. I do like some of these customs but... Will see, I still have some time to think and search, if I will find something with a good compromise between what you pay and what you get..maybe, if not , most probably, I will end up on a CBR600RR with ABS.

That's my concern with the new wave of 300cc arriving in the shops. It would be a perfect size for London but very popular with thieves. I'm starting to think electric bikes now anyway, as you said upthread there's not much room for high speed fun and games on London streets now.

That kind of fun in a city is something no possible anyway, for me we talking about the youth and 30 years ago in Rome... now in London with all the cameras and high population between fines and danger is something very forbidden, so mainly a bike that it's not too pain to ride between cars but also that it allows you to go out of the city with performance.
I really don't know how to resolve the nocturnal parking though. -

Anybody know of any good trackers available and cost please?
-
• #7785
Heavy chain and a tracker. It's enough to put off the inexperienced. If a pro wants to steal it, they'll steal it anyway.
If it's just transport and you don't have to worry about looks then the SH300 is a fun scooter. Not for everyone I admit but I can't fault it for London transport.

I've got the datatool Trakking device. It costs around £100 p.a., prices to fit are negotiable from about £180. Not sure it's the best available but you get a little sense that your bike is protected from some of the thieving scum, pros would just sling it in a freezer van and discard the tracker asap.

I didn't know about the tracker... cheers.

I finally moved my last thing out of Bethnal Green yesterday - my Vespa. I really need to ride that thing more. The 10 miles to my new house were a fucking hoot. A noisy hoot that seemed far faster than the speedo indicated.
Unfortunately I also discovered a fucking great big scratch in the sidepanel, which must have been done recently either by the removal firm, the MoT garage or me when I was clearing out the garage last week. Whilst its pristine-ness is exactly what has put me off from riding it anywhere, I didn't shell out all that money for a bare-metal restoration only to have it ruined by a 3 inch gouge in a really visible area. Not really sure what to do now.

I have the biketrac. Always been good. Set it off a few times by accident. Never needed it yet.

Easily foiled :(

I personally don't like any street fighter, they remind me bikes for robbery or hooligan mentality. If not sporty then a scrambler or a motard.
-
• #7795
I know they are going to be really pricey, but has anyone used Metropolis next to Vauxhall Bridge?
I need a service and MOT in a hurry and they are the nearest place to where the bike is currently stored. -
• #7796
They are shit. Go to Chasbikes. http://www.chasbikes.co.uk/

17k miles for a 15yo bike.

Is right or russel motors ;)

Check on the mot checker and look at the condition of the bike.
I'd say that's an easy choice! ;) If nothing else, at least with the VFR400 you'll still be able to sell it on in a few years when the CX500 is back to being a "plastic maggot". Besides, single-sided swingarms are ALWAYS cool.
@Bad_Science VTR250 was my dream commuter for years, probably still is come to think of it. Rare as hens teeth though, I'd settle for a Suzuki Goose though.
