  • That's moved it a few mm. Thanks!
I'd loosened it. Rocked a bit and then did up before I posted, but nothing... Bloody typical.

Also, don't think Cannondales dodgy paint skills are helping anything look straight!

Talking of paint, @Dammit must have an update by now?

  • did somebody here post a black dale with red/white bar tape? Saw one on the train yesterday and could have sworn I knew it from somewhere

  • It's down to the QR, especially on a disc frame where the force of the disc moved the axles on the drop out.

Clamp it tighter than you think, or get a close cam skewer (like Shimano).

  • ive really been appreciating just how fun and care-free this has been recently.

The 27mm Roubaix' completely changed it.

  • When are we doing LFGSS CAAD ride?

I should dust mine off and give it a spin.

  • Hola fellow cannondale fanatics. Might as well post it here instead of the classified ebay bargains thread. Will be more appreciated here.
Saw this on ebay for £110, cheap much?

    Quick before somebody gets it!

    edit: nvm, instantly sold >.>

  • With the usual apologies for the crappy smartphone photos, may I introduce My First Cannondale.

    First with aero-is-king 303s:

    And secondly with weightweenie 202s:

    Full spec is:

    Cannondale Supersix Evo HiMod frameset
    DA9000 groupset including pedals
Rotor 3D+ cranks with P2M power meter
Ritchey Superlogic bars, stem and seatpost
    Fizik R3 braided saddle
Zipp 202/303 wheels with Vittoria Corsa SC tubs (25 rear, 23 front)

The brakes still need to be set up and the gears need a final tweak (hence the lack of cable ends) and I imagine that in due course I'll switch to conventional stem spacers and lower the bars so that the Bebejeezus is less liable to cry at the stem stack.

All up weight is 6.57kgs with the 303s and 6.42kgs with the 202s. Looking forward to riding it, even if it's looking unlikely that'll be any time soon...

  • Is this post-bikefit? Still looks classy as

  • Woah - that's some cannonspaff right there!!

  • Yeah - seatpost down 3cm (could maybe go a little more) and stem down to 120 from 140.

Also just popped the spacer that was on top, underneath so there's about 2.5cm of stack above the headset.

I've got a real love - hate relationship with this bike, but, I can genuinely say it's the only bike I've ever had that I'd happily ride every day to work and back etc, training/club ride on for hours, throw at rough stuff like HOTN yet handle 30%+ climbing/descending on comfortably.

Really is a bloody awesome all-rounder.

  • I had big phat 25's and 26's, you don't really want anything larger than that on a road bike!?

    ?

I've really been appreciating just how fun and care-free this has been recently, the 27mm Roubaix' completely changed it.

  • Unless I misinterpret your post like I always do!

  • Nah - I just don't really classify this as a road bike.

    Road bike has to have

  • Just for the rear?

  • Are you being facetious mr Scoble?!

  • Yeah. I've been collecting the parts for a while. Every time I had earned a treat, I'd buy a new part for it.

  • So nice.
Seems every HM is lighter than mine, but then mines 58cm and they're always tubular clad. 300g is about the weight of a medium sized poo, right?

  • Just aquired. Very very excited, but can someone offer their opinion on the hairlines around the joins? I've read a lot that this is just par for the course with these frames.

Seller has 18000+ positive feedbacks and claims its in good condition to I'm hoping for the best here....

  • SystemSix and Six13 frames do this.

You can't really tell what's going on underneath at the join. The Carbon and the Aluminium don't play nice together over time and because of the way they are bonded together it was difficult to isolate the join between the two materials to stop galvanic corrosion.

And I don't think they were expecting these frames to still be around and in use, so buy at your own risk and keep an eye on it.

Rad frames though, but you may struggle to get modern - wide - wheels in the rear the end (fnar)

  • hmmm, you've got me wondering whether it might be better to cancel my order and find something that wont blow up underneath me...

  • Depends what you want. Tech has moved on.

If it makes you feel better, buying it would be no different to the punt you are taking with any circa eight year old aluminium or composite frame; the risk is there, it's just a bit unquantifiable.

  • And they are great to ride

  • ^ and this, yes.

Someone will erroneously suggest fitting an adapter and 24mm cranks tho

  • I ended up bailing. I would've built it with standard 105 cranks + adapter, and probarbly wouldn't have done it justice with the build generally.
