If you want a close finish in the Anfield check out the podium in 2005 :(
...and I've missed the podium in the National 100 by about 20 seconds ... Twice.

Ultan and I were separated in the 2013 Nat 24 by 4min for >23 hours. It was only after selling my soul to the devil in the final few laps I pulled out a gap above 5-6min.
Losing 12hr by 800yds, made worse by the fact I'd hit all the red lights and done a U-turn on the finish circuit when the gf handed up a chocolate bar that confused me. Never likely to forget either of those races..
