It's 1, from 2015.
Wasn't very popular as I understand it, probably due to being under-forked and shocked.
But at 60kg DC and I probably won't push the Revelation and Monarch out of their comfort zones.

Excellent. Room for upgrades!

In a good or a bad way?
How do the crabon wheels feel?
-
• #8581
All feels good. Wheels are running with tubes until I'm sure we won't have to send it back for whatever reason. But they feel like wheels.
Even with the shock on full open it doesn't feel like it's bobbing when pedaling. Pretty neat. Hopped it off some big curbs and stairs - very different feel to a hardtail.

My F-Si
Although I'd try the Trance when in morzine if the opportunity came up.

I rode at Farleton knott near Lancaster for the first time last night, amazing trails and scenery, I ended up hitting a tree when I got caught in a rut resulting in two dead legs. There are some amazing jumps towards the end which I nearly crashed again on, my mate convinced me I would be fine if I cased a shallow double, I was, but my forks pretty much bottomed out and I only just held on. If anyone is ever up that way, definitely check it out, its not far off the M6.

Going to ride Cwmcarn Sunday. Y Mynydd is now open again after being closed for nearly two years. I won't be riding it like the guy in the video but I aim to have mucho, mucho fun.

How's your new posh tire?
-
• #8587
Good so far. I've clanged it super hard into rocks and roots, no rim dings so far.
Experimenting with tyre pressures for different types of trails and finding anything below 25psi too squirmy for me generally though I might use that sort of pressure for the Masts. Basically for anything seriously steep and loose. -

I already asked in another thread, but this one is perhaps more relevant for my question:
Looking for a bit more stack height on my MTB. Any suggestions for a cheap +50mm rise handle bar for 31.8mm stem? Something like Kore Rivera but either used or cheaper. Prison bars would be rad, but I can not find anything OS.
-
• #8589
High rise bars are hard to find now, superstar have some 40mm for £20 but they are very purple, mine are on the way to get anodised black with some other stuff that needed doing.
-
• #8590
Thx. I could live with purple. But not sure 40mm is enough...

Had a great day at Cwmcarn yesterday. Conditions were primo.
Someone, on the XC trail, had an off and the air ambulance was called. Have not managed to find any reports of it yet. -

Dang that's beastly. I imagine by 1:30 in my arms could be used as noodles. Some of those rock gardens look mean and fast.
-
• #8593
The rock slab sections did beat me up and the whole course is fast. It was really dry and the small, loose rocks on the bottom section were tricky for me.
Super loose conditions. -

I've been told that the 'performance' Schwalbe tyres are 'the shit ones' by a reliable source and that they don't grip like a 'modern tyre'.
If I replace them with a trailstar (front) and a pacestar (rear) will I experience a grip revelation and new, phenomenal speeds that allow me to surpass my (Full-suss'd) brethren on the trail?

Sure, why not.

thumbs up
-
• #8598
Not sure I'd bother with Trailstar up front. Considering the riding you do with the XC bike. It's got to be easy to find a grippy alternative to a 2.1 Racing Ralph Performance.
Just a better quality Ralph out back and a 2.25 Nic up front?
-
• #8599
This is for ma Stanton, yo.
Put a pacestar 2.25 Nic on the front of the F-Si on Monday. Going to keep the performance ralph for summer then put a Ron Evo on the back come autumn.
One. Step. Ahead.

Oh in that case, this tyre from Conti should suit.
Nice. I presume that's the Trance 2, or maybe the 1, considering the kit?
