  • Probably still better than nursing a hangover with kebabs and chocolate though.

  • dunno

  • Kinda resent giving money to PX.

    Why?

  • Dunno really. £50 threshold for free postage annoys me.

  • A few aerobar issues today....

  • Was that on the Holybourne to Chawton leg, or is there another tribar killer on the loose?

Looks like you were using them backwards, I'm not sure that manufacturers have allowed for that in their design. Even plain gauge tube will be weaker at the bend, and using them backwards will put more stress on the bend, according to classical analysis of a cantilever.

  • It's not actually my bike, I am very lucky to have a long-term loan of a Shiv. However it is 2010 and the extensions are old, as as you pointed out, the wrong way round. Turning moment = Force x distance proved the deciding factor here - and seven and a half laps of that course in a few weeks proved too much.

To replace them, people have already suggested either Zipp or D2Z extensions if I want high hands.

  • Jan Ullrich will have them off you.

  • I can't fathom how people race a 12 on the h88.
    I'm battered today.
Never riding that course again. Unless it's resurfaced like the section between Bentley and Farnham.

    Horrid.

  • #firstworldproblems

Just add some 80s sunnies and some headbands to each order.

  • You're clearly too fat. ;)

Hope you pulled up before damaging yourself?!

  • I've ridden two 12s, few 100s, couple of 50s and 25s and spent hours riding up and down in training. Now you know why I use tractor tyres.
I'm not going back there though, I'm done with that road.

  • Yeah never again. But was really good test for me, with how savage it was.
Reminded me of the concrete slabs they use across the Po valley in Italy, as brutal as that.

At least 3 times I was sure I'd punctured and was just praying no, especially in the last 30min.

Also @umop3pisdn informed me the E2/100 is now all motorway! No single carrigeway. So get your entries in, going to be fast! Closes tomorrow I think.

  • I've entered that already - it made more sense than waiting until the end of the year for the A100. I'm off the bike at the moment though so I'm worried it'll end up being a pile of shit ride, assuming I get a ride.

  • 3:45:47 is what I need. My 100 is currently my 'slow' distance so needs to be updated but not sure how it will go. I've got a 10 the day before too. The last time I did that (I rode 20:20, you rode 19:20) I was pretty caned the day after for the H50/8.

  • What hydration did you use for the 100?
Did you have a bladder or bottles? Any helper doing handups?
Tempted to try one of those skinsuit bladders - not that I need my beer gut enhanced.

  • No helpers.

Used a bladder, worked bang on. With gels stuffed down my skinsuit front too.

I used the same feeding strategy that I've used for road races this year. I've learnt what I need and can handle now.

You still not right? Sucks you're off bike, sorry. Teach you to do weights. :)

  • Oh realise who you are. Good ride!
And shame about the bars, I lost count of the bottles I saw ejected and splayed across the road!

  • How much fluid does the bladder hold?
    I'd normal drink 1-2L in a 100 I think, depending on ambient temp. ~500ml/hr

  • XLab Gorilla cages if you don't want to lose saddle mounted bottles.

  • The "xt" version of the gorilla cages are even stronger, but I still lost my tool bottle about 20miles into the IM Wales bike. I didn't even notice until the finish so could have been embarrassing.

  • The one I bought platypus big zip holds 1.5 l which is fine for me. I drank before start and had fluid left at end. My body is happy me shoving a load of liquid and food in it before the start. Do this before road races as I often forget to eat in the madness of first hour, so used to it.

  • Reminded me of the concrete slabs they use across the Po valley in Italy, as brutal as that.

Underneath the tarmac, it is concrete slabs, that's why the ruts run across the road at regular intervals. The tarmac sinks into the expansion joints between the slabs.

  • Ah, that explains that. Like in Belgium too. But there it's wide and you wheels can get stuck in the cracks if your not careful. Horrible stuff.
