The supplied lenses are just dummies. Optician gets new ones to suit prescription / tint / finish / thickness etc, just as they would if you were buying frames in the shop.
-
• #25933
Which optician? Specsavers are grade A cunts for things that are not purchased at theirs.

Any local independent one should do it - don't know about the chains. There are also online ones where you can send in the frames and they'll fit lenses.

• #25935
Will check, thanks!

Bear in mind that if you take frames from elsewhere to be fitted with new lenses they quite often make you sign to say that they're not liable if they break the frames during lens fitting.

I have a pair of oakley frogskins that i have had clear prescription lenses put into at specsavers. They did it while i waited. was circa £50 i think (with anti-glare coating).
As far as im aware, all prescription lenses are made as oversize blanks, and they just take one of whatever presciption rating lens each eye needs, and just cut it to size. I think they used the existing tinted lens from my frogskins to get the required shape of the new ones. -

I've got some things (merino polo shirt for instance) made in Fiji! As its a tiny developing country in the middle of nowhere with massive unemployment and little prospects, this is actually a great thing*. It provides much needs jobs and input to the economy.
*spent a year working there.
