Really trying to figure out how you managed to lose all the weight to get down to 6.83! Maybe my shit ebay scales are out..
-
• #5833
Hehe, my scale is really bad, I'm pretty sure it's at 7.1 or something. I'll pop by a bike shop later to get an accurate weight.
@MechaMorgan it's a 52
-
• #5835
Very possible, I got some cheapo eBay scales and they're miles out.

Chopped some more steerer and replaced an ailing Arione saddle with a new Arione R1. Fit sorted now.
Once the SI top cap is tightened should I still be able to rotate the cone spacer by hand? At the moment I can rotate the spacer between the stem and bearing. Thinking I should tighten a bit more.

Top caps only need to be tightened until there's no play in the forks/headset and I guess a little extra for peace of mind. I should think you could turn the spacer and it be fine
-
• #5838
You might need a spacer above the stem
-
• #5839
With the SI system?
Surely if you need a spacer above the stem the steerer is too long
-
• #5840
Yup.
If it's already tight enough, steerer too long.

Hi all. Anyone want to help me value my beloved tt monstrosity? No more racing since I got knocked off so I've got to move it on but don't want to give it away. Cheers!

@rogan So, couldnt get to a bikeshop to get it weighed so I went and used the scale they use in the office to weigh medical supplies. Not sure how accurate it is but it was at 6.89.
Wasnt sure about these numbers still so I did a rough breakdown of component weights and rounding it off.Frame & Fork 1450
Wheelset with tyres/skewers 2600
Groupset 1750 *this is with the stock red22 cranks, I have a Sisl2 which is lighter sothis number should be lower
Pedals 206
seatpost 220
Bars 320
Stem 114
tape 80
clamp 15
saddle 1006900grams'ish with the cables etc, added. Lets just say 7kg to even out the little parts.
cant be arsed to do a proper data breakdown like how those weightweenie nerds does it. -
• #5843
Cheers. I guess its all about the compounding of changing each bit, i reckon ill save 400 on the group keeping 105 brakes, can easily lose another 300 on saddle post and pedals, but that still only 7.7. Wheelset is a killer!

my current wheelset weighs in at 1480 with no tyres or skewers. Superstarcomponents volta hubs on pacenti sl23 rims with zipp skewers. Really solid wheels and happy with them. cheap too! got em for £160 brand new. They're doing a lot of wheelsets at the moment with 25% discounts.
challenge stradas are 380g each or something -
• #5845
Thanks PhilDAS and edscoble - there's enough gap between the steerer, top of stem and top cap to tighten another half turn or so. I'll do that tomorrow

My CAAD10 disk sits at 8.2kg
I honestly couldn't care less - I had it up Hardknott, Wrynose and The Struggle back to back at the weekend and it reinvigorated my love of the bike after pretty much loving/hating it since new.
It also turns out, if you smash your bike up 30%+ hills, it stops the BB creaking.
And:(Mavic Aksium Disc + CX77) > (Zipp 303 + DA BR-9000)
when descending like a motherfucker.

(Mavic Aksium Disc + CX77) > (Zipp 303 + DA BR-9000)
TAKE THAT BACK

I simply can't @Amey
I cooked £50 worth of ZIPP pads in one day and spent every descent hoping my wheels/tubes/tyres weren't going to explode, whilst also cringing at the squealing that was going on while I was riding the Giant.
The heaviest day of climbing and descending was a bit wet so I rode the Cannondale. What a difference. Pure, confidence inspiring with predictable and consistent braking, and the ability to brake as hard as I wanted/needed without worry.

realised my BB creak was due to the rear QR. feel like I have been living a lie for years!! still pondering wheel options for mine though, then it is done
It helps with the height, but the problem is the width unfortunately
