Do you mean open onto the hallway, or have a latch/lock that can be operated from outside?
-
• #7278
Open onto hallway .. we are getting bathroom re-done atm .. the guy who is doing is absolutely brilliant but space is a bit of an issue and ideally we'd like if the door opened inside rather than out .. both our bedroom doors in the same hallway have doors opening inside.

What are your bathroom plans? I just bought my taps this morning so I'm finally full steam ahead... Debating tiles a bit though. (went for silver taps, and getting a sink from that place you linked to).

Replicate @Tenderloin 's bathroom in smaller space basically .. there is some wall layout change involved so about 2 week's worth of work. He is charging £1k per week.
Metro 10x20 tiles, grey grout, these floor tiles: https://www.tonsoftiles.co.uk/boardwalk-luna-anti-slip-wood-effect-tiles-15-2x61-5cm.html
We went with a simple basin from VP as we were on tight deadline and that Lusso guy didnt pick up his phone on sat; Also went with placeholder silver Bristan taps .. will source black at some point.
Work started 2 days ago, the guy who is doing is a ledge .. very professional. Got him from MyBuilder.

Ha, yep, sounds like we are in the same ballpark.
I'll give that basin guy a call today if he's a bit lame... can't be dealing with ikea basins and their tap holes. I bought those (just) @Airhead approved taps as they were the nicest ones I could find IMO below 1k a pop.
I got a lad off my builder too, seems a decent chap, just said he'll throw in a freebie if I help with his website, just advice, what could go wrong! Ha.
I'm paying a bit more per week but its the lowest quote I could get I haggled it down a few hundred. Not sure why they were coming in so high on a simple build, postcode? -

I am in pre-gentrified neighbourhood bordered with suburbia. Nearest flat white is 1-ish mile away. South east ;)
We are also thinking of an extension at the back so I am thinking of making a small 2nd bathroom there, so maybe will use Lusso then. It was purely logistical for us, I like their product. I found them by googling 'Corian basin' which is what I'd ideally like but couldnt find them (to buy) on the interweb.
You ordered Aesop yeah?

Back to my original question can someone shed light on this door thingy pls?
-
• #7284
The door in my mum's house (built late 90s) opens inwards. May have changed though.
-
• #7285
All bathroom doors everywhere I have lived open inwards.
-
• #7286
Really? Almost all non-home toilets I can think off open inwards, which is gross in terms of door handles and unwashed hands.
-
• #7287
And most other rooms, the more I think about it.
Exceptions might be disabled toilets, presumably to maximise wheelchair manoeuvring room inside.
-
• #7288
I always thought that doors should wherever possible open inward to stop them getting blocked shut by something falling against them. Leaving you trapped in a room while your house burnt to the ground or some toe rag robbed the place.
-
• #7289
Can I see it? Pics? Bbq?
Also maybe pass details?
-
• #7290
yes to all those questions, do I have you on whatsapp?
-
• #7291
funnily enough he had a similar argument about opening them outwards .. he said he recently had to change all the doors in a house to get the building permission .. so I need to send him some sort of reference link that its ok to be opened inside .. I cant see the reason he would bullshit.
-
• #7292
Surely doors open inwards so you don't twat someone walking past in the hallway?
-
• #7293
IKR!
Someone find me a link to legislation (or lack of) and claim a beer or two or three please.
-
• #7294
It's Part M of building regs and only applies to ground-level bathrooms (to do with disabled access).
-
• #7295
If I could kiss you on mouth .. beer tokes at the ready (London).
-
• #7296
Dirty bedroom talk for behind ill closing doors.
-
• #7297
Saucy. If you're in a flat though, 'ground floor' = your floor.
-
• #7298
Mid terrace house and this is first floor hallway .. just going through
-
• #7299
That'll be it... ahhh well, I'm going to be paying £1250 ish a week which is fine really. Decent chaps.
Aesop is for tossers.
I already have plenty.Quite fancy tiles like this but might be crazy talk...
