Officers were called by the London Ambulance Service at around
07:10hrs on Wednesday, 11 May to reports of a collision between a car
and a cyclist at Rainham Road junction with Sowrey Avenue. The London
Ambulance Service attended and the 58-year-old male cyclist was taken
to hospital. He remained in hospital in a critical condition until his
death on Sunday, 15 May at 13:51hrs. Next of kin have been informed
and the deceased has been formally identified. He is Christopher Holt,
58 (19.12.57) from Hornchurch. witness appeal line on 020 8597 4874.
A post mortem was held at Queen's Hospital Mortuary and cause of death
was a pulmonary embolism. The female driver of the car stopped at the
scene. She has not been arrested and continues to assist police with
their enquiries. Officers from the Roads and Transport Policing
Command based at Chadwell Heath Traffic Garage investigate. Anyone who
witnessed the collision, or the events leading up to the collision, is
