  • If it's anything like the Nikon AF2, then it's probably working fine. The focus seems mechanically linked to the shutter button and stops at the appropriate scale. It's hard to describe but yeah, it's nothing like modern in-lens focusing, noise wise.

  • Ha, I just wrote a review on the L35AF yesterday, and did try to describe how long the travel of that shutter button is, how 'mechanical' it feels, and that you're moving that funny focus indicator needle with your push of the shutter as well.

    @mi7rennie ..don't know how they put the lens in focus exactly, but it's really common with these cameras. I used quite a lot of those 35mm point-and-shoots, the focus indication lights up like immediately and you don't hear a thing before the shutter goes down..
