  • I was thinking more of small parish churches with diminishing congregations, whose disapearance leaves some without a community.

So you were positing that the reason people are 'jubilant' about the fall in religiosity is that they hate lonely little old ladies who go to country churches? Do get fucked.

  • No I was positing that the fall in religiosity isn't a simple case of oppressive, patriarchal doctrines getting what they deserve. Harmless people are affected too. The reason people are 'jubilant' is they ignorantly assume all religion is evil. Your 'do get fucked' reaction, looking for an argument where there isn't one, is similar to your attitude to religion. The world isn't all black and white.

  • No.
    BUT
    Religion encourages irrationality.

That doesn't mean people are irrational in all aspects. As it also encourages good behavior (well SOME forms of SOME religions) and that's not irrational. Neither is forming communities.

But ultimately blind belief AKA faith is a virtue. That's something that can't be erased.
