Yes I agree there. I guess a community center should step in, but with all the government cuts...
In rural Ni many things such as childcare and after school revolve around churches. But there's no alternative for the non believers at all.

So you were positing that the reason people are 'jubilant' about the fall in religiosity is that they hate lonely little old ladies who go to country churches? Do get fucked.

I agree unfortunately in very few countries religion goes strongly together with secularism. It needs to lose power first.
As for harmless...faith schools are anything but and most religions aren't nice to women. This is obv. driving by cultural factors (see liberal Christianity and Muslims VS mainstream) but if it quacks like a duck...
