I agree unfortunately in very few countries religion goes strongly together with secularism. It needs to lose power first.
As for harmless...faith schools are anything but and most religions aren't nice to women. This is obv. driving by cultural factors (see liberal Christianity and Muslims VS mainstream) but if it quacks like a duck...

Plastic church attendance is probably responsible for at least a quarter of all Christian primary school places in many areas of London so there's a large amount of very liberal Christianity going on.

I was thinking more of small parish churches with diminishing congregations, whose disapearance leaves some without a community.

The rise of tolerant, progressive secularism is definitely a Good Thing. Just not sure about some of the jubilance around the diminishing of certain harmless communities.
