Thinking of doing the DD with a buddy. Anyone any idea of how hilly it is? What gearing is most advisable? Cheers.
-
• #28
Mostly flat. Whatever gear you ride around nd London on is plenty

^ this. There's one moderately steep bit in Finchingfield but it only lasts about 50m so you just need a bit of a run up.
I've done it on 71" and 80". 71" was more fun, there's only one hill down to Sudbury to spin out on and I found 80" hard work for the last 15 miles.
This year I will mainly be going to Legoland instead of riding it. :(

Going to give it a go for the first time and ride to Norwich afterwards to get a train back up north.
Just hope I don't get lost in London trying to find the start !

I'm not going to organise the coach, I'm afraid I don't have the time to do so. I'm in SF from next Monday through to the end of May, and that won't give me enough time to promote it, sell tickets, organise it, etc.
Thanks for the offers for help, but I can't sort it this year.
I shall definitely be doing the ride though.

Just head east and follow the smell of beer and vaseline

Been aiming to do Dunwich for last few years but something has always got in the way. What's the deal do LFGSs crew normally ride it together?
-
• #34
there's been a fixed crew last few years, meet at pub on the park and ride with whoever...
-
• #35
Cool, I'll be doing it fixed so happy to meet up with other forum members!
-
• #36
Looking forward to this again :)

I'm in as well - is anyone going to do a forum coach thing? Happy to pay good £££ for that
-
• #38

Looking forward to this year's DD, it is ten years since my first one which was my first ever century ride. I only missed out one year as I was in The Netherlands - luckily, as it pissed it down all night apparently.
So... there and back on fixed to celebrate. -

I am just going to ride down to Hackney again and then ride back from southwold. should be fun.
-
• #43
We all do it fixed.
-
• #44
If you don't do it fixed you haven't actually really done it at all.
-
• #45
You going this year?
-
• #46
Not sure, will be going as far as moreton for a couple, then I'll probably ride to Finchingfield for a few more. Then it'll probably seem like a good idea to carry on.

Same offer as last year:
Driving to Dunwich in a mini-bus so will have heaps of space to take peoples stuff down to the beach for them.
Get in touch by pm.

Morning, I am now going to be packing and moving over this weekend. Would anyone like my early bird ticket? It was £25
-
• #49
There's a guy on the DD facebook page, Louis something who organises a couple of 'private' coaches, maybe he'd add one on for LFGSS?
-

I'll take it!
EDIT: maybe not, let me think...
Already got my tickets at the early bird rate, but would otherwise be fully supportive of a forum coach, that was a wicked idea last time, felt like smelly tired royalty
