This morning's commute and other commuting stories

I thought the same too at 730ish, left about half hour later than normal which is usually a killer for traffic increase but it was if I'd left early. I checked my watch to make sure I wasn't in fact an hour early! Pleasant ride in.

Late cycle in this morning. horrible traffic around westminster. got called a c*nt by a scooter driver with a learner plate for not using the cycle highway, after I stopped to let him through.. safe.

I bussed it in, but noticed that the 2-phase right cycle turn into Parliament St./Whitehall is still blocked by barriers leftover from Liz the Lizard's big politics party on Wednesday.

What got me was not that they closed the roads but that some, like Abingdon St, were still closed on Friday. What on earth for? There was nothing to remove.

Went for a 7 mile cycle yesterday, cycled to work today and noticed something felt loose on the left side.

*check crank...aaah...worked its way loose. Could have been interesting on the fixie O_o

tightenened with multitool. And now there's a saddlebag with tools on my desk...with no email who left it there. I guess it's a pressie and happy monday?

10am starts this week so leaving the house at 9:15 means no traffic from mile end to soho.

Just had a lunch meeting in Ladbroke Grove - meant crossing London from Old Street. My old commute, more or less, so was interesting to see how much I'd forgotten and how many times I could get lost.
Black range rovers abound from Harley St onwards.
Had a van undertake me dangerously on gloucester terrace, who then nearly took out a deliveroo moped - who, having had the temerity to beep at the van for the cunty move then got brake checked as a reward.
Then between Clerkenwell and Old St roundabout, watched another van sail through three red lights.
Still, bloody cyclists, eh?

Raced the black clouds home.
It started cunting it down just as I unclipped outside my house.

Just this once... I win.

I took the East-West cycle way in at about lunch time today. At this time of the day its an impromptu jogging track, but otherwise great. I was following the 'Fuck Taxis' guy who gave each runner a super-close pass. I don't blame him, but I don't think gonna make a bit of difference.

Anyone come across this delightful fellow who has seemingly RLJ'd through every light I've been at for the past few weeks between Burgess park and Blackfriars? Saw him on the Veloevo's Tumblr and recognised those cans, tiny bars and general tw@ ensemble. - note him using the 'pavement before RL'J technique employed, genius.

Yep - I got it spot on - thin merino - short sleeve racing top - shorts - fingerless gloves - left home at 7 - missed most of the messy stuff - espresso at 8 - desk at 8.15 - client due at 9 - shame I couldn't stay out and play.

I only see a handful of other cyclists on my commute. One of the regulars is still in full on ninja mode, ski mask so you can only see his eye, thermal helmet cover, fully on winter gloves, boil in the bag hiviz jacket the works.

It get on my tits more than it should.

He must stink by the time he rocks up at work. Just be glad you don't have the desk next to him!

Strong point, well made

Avoided New King's Road by going via Chelsea Harbour. Took the same amount of time, was longer, but less hassle.

Will redirect commute again (until October when roadworks should be finished).
