  • Hoping for some input from a dead thread...

I have been having troubles wtih my Berghaus wasterproof jacket stops being waterproof... I spoke to Berghaus directly a couple of times and they said I can send it back to them directly anytime withing a reaonsable time frame, the jacket is not yet 3 years old and they will inspect and take actions - repair, replace, give me vouchers to spend on their e-store etc.

Finally, I decided to pack it and send it today, called them again to check address is still correct only to be told that they, as the manufacturer does not deal with warranty and told me to go back to Blacks where I bought it... of course Blacks being Blacks does not give a shit and told me anything they sell only comes with a 1 - 2 years warranty. After insisting they send the jacket back to Berghaus for me, they took it in reluctantly... So my questions are:

Who dose deal with any warranty issue? Berghaus or Blacks?

Is under 3 years for a £170 Gore Tex material jacket reaonably not old? I know jackets like this come with a reasonable lifetime warranty, and to me 3 years is pretty young for a jacket of this level.

I have only ever washed and proofed it using Nikwax, so I doubt it was me who's caused it to stop working...

Anyone has had success, have actually been bothered to send their jackets back for warranty claims?

*the back of the jacket stays dry because my backpack got soaking wet...

  • Bullshit from blacks. Warranty is ALWAYS with the retailer, never manufacturer.

You're covered under EU law for 6 years. Consumer rights act 2015.

Get a letter off to head office.

Goretex is under warrenty for the 'useful life' of the product too.
