Going back to the Felt pursuit bike, the riders in this clip with the crosswind coming from the drive side seem to be doing better than those going in the other direction, i.e. crosswind from the non-drive side

But the drive/non-drive side with lowest drag is also going to have the highest sideforce (lift). So you have just disproved Felt's theory :)
