disconnect the plumbing for the two appliances, run the kitchen tap to flush through, any better?
if yes, then it may be one of the appliances has a faulty non-return valve and you're getting cleaning agent backflow
if no, disassemble pipework and look for plumbing residues - was it soldered or compression/push fit?

Ours was like that after we had all the internal piping replaced. I think it's just the flux used on the solder joints slowly dissolving. The flux should be WRAS approved so should be safe enough, but if you don't like it bottled water is cheap enough. Took about 2 weeks for the taste to clear for us.
New house, new plumbing. Water tastes like tcp when drawn from kitchen tap.
Plastic hoses for washing machine and dishwasher run off from pipes just before the tap.
What is more likely to be the problem? The tap or the hoses?
