Post Mount Discs

  • I'm installing disc brakes for the first time. I am not good with modern shit.

The frame is listed as needing 160mm Post mount brakes. I got some Avid BB7s. The front fits correctly, but the rear settles on the rotor, way before it reached the posts. It sort of feels like it is for a smaller rotor.

Has anyone seen this before? There are CPS washers that are not in the picture, but I am using them. It still isn't enough to get the calliper to sit on the mounts.

  • Smaller rotor needed I think?

  • Yes - looks like you need a 140mm rotor or a 140 -> 160 post mount adapter - with longer mounting bolts to match.

  • Planet X are honestly the fucking worst.

  • Which frame is it?

  • Tomac Montezuma. It's taken them two months to get me the right headset, and now they've dropped the price again, so I'm both out of pocket and not riding.

  • Hmmm well hope things go smoother from this point on...

  • Two months?! Does it not take the fsa40 no42 then? Or have they not actually got "lots in stock"?

  • No. I was advised a different headset would also work, which I purchased. Then when it didn't fit they apologised, and sent the correct headset. To the wrong address. It's a nightmare.
