I see a few tt frames with bars and deraileurs included on ebay around £500 if you can stretch to that?
-
• #3
these mainly being dolans and slightly older treks
-
• #4
Just get any Frame that fits but that leaves you room for adjustment for position improvement.
Stack and reach are really the way to measure. Do you know your current stack and reach, and how that looked on a bike.
-
• #5
Spend money where it counts. Powemeter so you can train.
Good fitting helmet with positions
Skinsuit so small you balls squeeze bAck inside.
Aero coach or position work. -

Powermeter, soon to be sorted
Racing in a Nopinz suit and a Bell Javelin.I'm currently on a 54cm Precursa, slammed stem with 25mm zipp riser kit and an 80mm stem (which I think should be longer). It looks like a Medium in most frames would work for me in terms of adjustment. I'll get the tape measure out later to measure stack and reach properly. Cheers

I could stretch to that for the right frame. Annoyingly I narrowly missed out on a Cervelo P2 that went for about £400 the other day...

Yeah you've got the kit then.
Measure stack and reach and work from that. It's the best way. -

Was about to direct you towards a mint Scott Foil a friend is selling but it's a large.

The only parts of a groupset I'm sorted for is chainset and brakes, so I'm open to any manufacturer/range, apart from Di2/etap.
Do SRAM TT shifters work with Shimano mechs?

Do SRAM TT shifters work with Shimano mechs?
I know Zipp make a SRAM and a Shimano version of their RTC shifters, so I assume not.
I've got an Ultegra 6800 FD: £10 + £3.95 post.
-
• #12
If they are indexed shifters then no - I believe SRAM and Shimano use different pull ratios
-
• #13
I'm also considering a similar change from fixed TT to gears longer term so I'll keep an eye on this one
-
• #14
Cheers, I think I knew that in the back of my mind - silly question.
@Scilly.Suffolk - I may well take you up on that FD, I assume it's braze-on?
What externally routed brake levers are good?
-

Yup, braze-on.
Off of a TT bike: VGC.

Is a freehub body swap easy on a G3 hub?

Pretty sure they are novatec freehubs and the type that just pull off without any tools.
-
• #19
Thanks Dan - I have an old Novatec hub which is a bit sticky. I could butcher that, or for peace of mind buy a new one, with a steel body/anti-bite guard if possible. @thecycleclinic what do you recommend from your range?

Sorted:
- Novatec Freehub (replacing the soft Powertap one, after a bit of help with a hammer)
- 7900 RD on its way
- 6800 FD courtesy of @Scilly.Suffolk
- 5800 Brake callipers
- Ultegra 10sp chain
Need:
- 7900 TT shifters (to be honest I may end up buying new)
- Brake levers with external routing
- Novatec Freehub (replacing the soft Powertap one, after a bit of help with a hammer)

Tidy. Best paintjob too. Gonna do the TT cable mod?
I'm in the 2nd season of TT'ing on the cheap with a fixed Dolan Precursa, but would like to give gears a go. To date, my PB's are a 23:03 in a 10, and a 1:00:03 in a 25 - I'd like to get these down to 21:xx and 55:xx respectively.
Thanks to @skinny for alerting me to a pair of Raltech covers advertised on the Timetrialling Forum. They arrived this morning, which were listed as fitting a G3 powerhub and Mavic Open Pro.
Just so happens that a club mate had advertised a G3/Open Pro wheel for £270, which I'm going to take a look at this afternoon...
Next on the list is a frame. Something <£300 if possible. I had my eyes on a Dalkiia F1-Zero, again advertised on the TTF. Chatting to @cjr , who also races on one, they sound alright. The other obvious choice is a PX Stealth or an Exocet. Any other ideas?
