  • And disc brakes.

  • Was also at the Glasgow sale. Didn't realise it was on multiple days, venue's website had them down for only saturday. Ah well. Went in on the sat (about 15th person in) and there wasn't much in medium to shout about. Went again on the sunday a few hours after it had opened and there was loads.

Fancied bibs, but TBH the le coq sportif bibs I got last year for £35 have a significantly better pad than the "reduced to £80" rapha bibs, so sacked that off.

Got a bunch of socks and boxers, more than half of them were the wrong size (despite the right size being sewn into them?) and one set had a large hole in them, exchanged no bother though.

Then got an urban rain jacket and chuffed with that. At the reduced price its about the same as what you'd get a Vulpine jacket or similar.

Some of their online sales are better, or at least they were last time I bought some gear (2-3years ago?)

  • I think you're a bit wrong about your perception of Rapha vs Vulpine pricing.

    and

Same price. Only one I'd even consider.

  • dat vulpine jacket

    pukes

  • Could be useful for MTB rides. Could fit some pads under dem arms...

  • im put off by the aesthetics of vulpine. Prices also seem to be the same without the added benefits of rapha (guarantees, free repairs, easy and free returns from overseas etc)

  • and close to zero innovation, creativity or branding sense .. I have no idea why that brand exist .. maybe because cycling is the new golf and there is space for everyone, even the worst.

  • Confession - I bought the Vulpine insulated jacket. I was after a light down jacket anyway, and it was in the sale.
    Regrets, I've had a few.
I'm 6'1", and on advice I bought a size small... and it's still pretty big. Vulpine is tailored for box shaped people, not cyclists. Oh sorry, cyclists come in all shapes and sizes apparently. So let's put them all in clothes that don't fit anyone.
Vulpine are the Boden catalogue of the cycling world, but at Rapha prices.

  • Basically rapha or die

  • yeah duck off vulpine

  • That Vulpine jacket looks like something you'd want to go Rambling in, as opposed to the Rapha one that actually looks like a piece of cycle clothing.

  • .. I have no idea why that brand exists

    Because Rapha.

  • on the raphaesque aesthetic front these gilets look rather nice:

would love to try the merino one

  • You need to join a club and stop being such a tart. All kit is more or less the same - the only things that makes much difference is a the pad in shorts. Nice socks are nice too.

  • Actual cycling? Pass.
I'd rather sit on my own and read Mondial ;)

Have you got the wool wind jacket yet?

  • Fwiw vulpine stuff is gopping. I didn't mind the first line of Hoy stuff they did and they also made a nice jacket with Oliver Spencer. The rest is awful.

  • Vulpine the M&S of the cycling world.

  • I had a pair of Vulpine over shorts for a bit until they fell to bits. Rapha touring shorts are the only way to go, I'm on my 3 pair in 30,000 miles. I wear through the fabric after about 10,000 miles.

  • The softshell base layer is a brilliant bit of kit for Club racing. Gotta hand it to Rapha for that.

Paired With Sportful neo-Shell arm warmers I'm snug as.

I want a longsleeve softshell onsie I can just sling my Club jersey over.

  • All the stuff is nice, I like all the Rapha kit I own... 99% confirmation bias though.

  • design education is wasted on you >:(

  • checked on rapha prices recently, having only ever bought second hand PT stuff. the shadow "ensemble" is 480 £!! i mean wtfr

  • ...which is not actually really that much money for a top of the range outfit from what's supposed to be a high end clothing company. I've never understood why cyclists have an issue with Rapha's pricing.

here's a £3.5k coat, doesn't even work as well as peter storm cagoule.
