• Right, so Joel from Blue Door cycles in Crystal Palace is progressing with the build nicely. The new axle fits and the chainset is on. Another problem however is that the tensioner arm clamp appears to be a slightly smaller diameter than the tubing. Either that or it's poorly cast. Joel's going to take a file to one side of it. Here's hoping! @ElGato / @Big_Block, did you have such issues when fitting yours?
    Did they perhaps come in different sizes too?

  • Yes, I had the same problem.

    I've lined the inside of the clamp with electrical tape to stop the metal from scraping the paint in the process.
    I then used a longer bolt to slowly bring the 2 halves of the clamp together and once in place, I've replaced it with the original one.

    Filing could be an option.
    You just need to get rid of the sharp corner of the clamp.
    I've recently filed a Campag band on mech to fit on the Bates when I've encountered the same problem. I worked a treat.
