When did the P3T become the T3?
-
• #1629
Dunno, probably about 2009/2010

Might get those ventus as I need 40mm rise from the Headtube. Would be a lot cleaner than the use Tula.
Can you build the pads up that far from the base?
Are the pads adjustable, forward backwards and onwards? -
• #1631
3T make 60mm risers (and I have a set for sale if you want to go that way). To get much fore and aft adjustment you have to get separate elbow cup clamps and extension/riser joint clamps, see Nutshell's bike for example.

Any idea what the reach is front headset top cap to pads on the standard set up?
Do they all come in one stem length?Think it'll be a lot cleaner set up for me.
Thanks.

• #1633
Actually it seems as though they have 20mm rise on the stem head cap. I don't think it'll be any cleaner. Than my 20mm under a 6deg stem then use Tula bar.
I need a intergrated bar with -16 stem and 0 rise, then I can have 50mm spacers under pads.

Stem length is 90mm, centre of steerer clamp to centre of pads.
You want the -17deg Ventus, not as common as the 6deg but they do exist

Thanks will keep an eye out!

X-post porn
Asymmetric tubing, custom Hed discs, LHD.
Looks like they've used the standard crank construction though, which to me looks like the crank aero aerofoil is the wrong way around.
I wonder whether a UK tester typically sees more wind from the left or right? Given we race on the LHS of the road could that result in more wind coming from from the more open RHS of a DC, rather than from the sheltered LHS? Benefit in hiding the drivetrain on the left?

that's pretty cool, wonder if anyone else has been playing with bikes ahead of the 'lympics?
presume this has been UCI approved but wonder if anyone will kick off if they start dominating.
-
• #1638
New Argon18 out, new Cervelo coming. Expect there'll be more.
It's the USA, they won't dominate.
-
• #1639
What's the point of swapping the crank to LHS? I've seen BMXers do it for grind-side preference but are they doing it just to be quirky or is their evidence?
Something to do with "we exploited the aerodynamic advantage of the slight yaw angles you see when the bike is ridden through a velodrome’s banked turns. So the airfoil shapes are asymmetrical."
"by moving the drive side on the bike from the outside of the track, or right-hand side of the bike, to the inner part of the track, or left-hand side of the bike, the bike become more aerodynamic, and also handles better because the bike’s weight and center of gravity has moved inboard of the turns."

How many 'dromes are in the US? Three?
What are the new BritishCheatBikes™ like? Presume they've been testing some shit in other track meets?

The new Felt is less aero than a P4 with a front deep section according to the snippet of data in their video at 1min30sec

Drag: 499, CDA: 0.046?

Ever seen a standalone Shiv in the tunnel? How much am I losing riding my bike and not a Cervelo? :)
-
• #1644
Exactly - Cervelo P4s are less than 500g with full kit but no front disc (and are better than the P5 at low yaw). A T4 with nice handlebars would be faster still.
-
• #1645
I've not seen the megadowntube Shiv in the San Diego LSWT - the Cervelo data I refer to is from the exact same tunnel so you can easily make the comparison

I'll just assume it's x seconds slower than whoever beats me :)
It IS all about the bike.

Does anyone know anything about chinese 5 spokes? Are any of them actually aero (or more aero than say a Zipp808)
-
• #1648
They are... right up until the point they fold in half and you're using your dentures as an anchor.
-
• #1649
Says the cunt who has to send his Zipp back because some cocktard in the US fell off their bike. Le sigh.

We found one that's fast but the QC is currently terrible. We ordered 1 first and the bearings have now started to creak like a MF making it sound absolutely terminal, then another order of 6 and none of them were true.
I remember Bowdler swerving all over the place with his and his silly gear setup. Looks well sketchy.
