  • Literally the first image to come up with Google of "bmx jump gone wrong".

  • Thats it! Thanks

  • How could anyone walk away from that!?

  • Slowly. And probably with a limp, trailing spots of blood.

  • Does anyone happen to make a narrowwide in 104bcd that is in the 42t range?

  • ha, you can have a calendar or holiday card made of that

  • Campagnolo Ultra Torque bottom bracket cups - is there any difference between the different models, other than the colours? I've got some Fulcrum RS Racingtorq cranks which didn't come with the BB cups, so I needz some.

  • I think Super Record is just for Super Record because of the CULT bearings, so stick with Record?

  • Probably the safe option, except that the black colour of the Super Record BB cups would look so much better with the black frame...

  • If you don't like the gunmetal ones I have some silver BB cups you could have gratis.

  • Amber bikes: http://www.amber-bikes.com/104_BCD_Chainrings/p3835754_15658112.aspx
No idea of quality, no connection with the seller etc etc

  • @spotter - I have a 110bcd 50t ring from them, decent quality although took about 6 weeks to arrive.

  • I have a 130 bcd ring which came in <2 weeks

  • Will give it a whirl ta!

  • That's a very kind offer, but to be honest silver would be worse! This is for my winter trainer, so I'm trying to keep everything dark so the dirt doesn't show...

  • What can I buy off the peg that has Gates Carbon belt drive, hub gears, discs and space for some decent tyre volume?

Had a District a few years ago and really miss the simplicity and cleanliness, but some good hills near here and some shitty road surfaces in the city.

  • Bb30 bearing. Is there a neat way to pop them out safely

If you're currently using DA cranks, then presumably you don't actually have BB30 bearings in there at the moment, you have adapter cups containing 24mm bearings. It shouldn't harm anything to pop the cups out with their bearings still in place.

If you want to do a proper test fit, you'll have to take the cups out anyway, as they will be projecting out to 86mm wide to suit Shimano cranks, whereas the Hollowgram cranks will push almost right up to the 68mm BB shell on the shorter axle.

  • The bearings are in the frame, the adapters go into the bearings.

As it stands, the adapters are out - they come out easily with the DA cranks but the bearings are still in place. The new axles won't fit through these bearings.

These things, I think. They're easily removed.

Well, burn the whole think because that's the wrong way round. Your cranks and frame are probably already toast :-)

  • Super record cups don't have seals on them, because apparently the ceramic bearings don't need them. You can use SR cups with other cranks just the bearings won't be protected. Probably not the best idea for a winter trainer.

  • Ah, sounds like an immensely bad idea then. Even worse than my decision to switch from internal to external bearings. Damn you cheap but shiny carbon Fulcrum cranks...

Record UT cups it is. Thanks all.

  • How can I get chromes font back to normal? Just got my computer back from being fixed and now its all weird.

It's not such a bad idea. The seals are between the cup and the axle, so they potentially stop anything which has got past the bearings from going into the BB shell, or anything in the BB shell from getting to the bearings. Since the bearings are pressed onto the axle, and have their own rubber seals in the case of non-CULT bearings, the path is the very thin sliding fit between the bearing outer race and the cup. To be honest, if anything gets in there you really want it to have a way out, because it will wear the cups if it's solid material (no that big of a deal as the cups are disposable) or it will allow electrolytic corrosion if it's water, which might make it hard to separate the bearing from the cup. You should have grease in that sliding fit where the bearing inserts into the cup anyway, so there's very little chance that the cup seal will ever be called upon to do its job. All my UT cranks run without the seal, either with SR cups or with standard ones with the seals pulled out.

Since the SR CULT bearings have no seals, it would actually be better if the SR cups had the seals, to keep all the crap which can pass unhindered through the open bearings from ending up in a puddle in the bottom of your BB shell.
