Removing a bit of news coverage or something wouldn't have had much public impact. Removing recipes however has hit the headlines and already got a petition with ~ 170,000 signatures. https://www.change.org/p/bbc-save-the-bbc-s-recipe-archive
I reckon this could be a move similar to the proposed axing of 6 music to get the public support.
