Last Incredibly Cross is this Saturday somewhere in East London. Starts at 1pm. https://www.instagram.com/p/BBaVjIBDzBg/?taken-by=incredibly_cross
Going to give it a go fixed. It's not like I have any competitive capability anyway. Hooray!

Hopefully see you there, but not fixed.

Never got a new rear ss cog and don't have the time/money to swap them out anyway so 39x18 it is. Anyway all my experiences of falling off my cross bike has been very positive so far. I will happily be giving people the passing lane and the 'no-please-after-you' type smile as I go round. For this final round I'm focussing on the hand-ups.

Fixed CX is awesome -'dat rear wheel tractionfeel is the human ESP.

You all seem to be aware but we thought we would go for a shameless plug anyway! Cross season is not quite done yet, lets have one final muddy blow out to end the winter!
Keep an eye on the facebook/insta/twitter on Friday for location info.

Ah thanks for the offer! I fancy giving CX a go fixed anyway and I can't think of a better opportunity to experiment.

Would anyone be interested in a pair of clincher training wheels?
I have two pairs of Mavic CXP33s on SRAM X9 disc hubs, 10 speed freehub. One pair is in VGC, the other needs the rims replaced: I'll probably swap them out to something wider and modern (DT460 probably).
Anyway useful wheels because they'll do disc or canti frames.
Drop me a PM if interested.

I've got a mate who's planning on going down to those Tuesday night CX races, seems a bit of a slog after work, if you're coming London..

i need two sets of wheels for my new cross bike.
I want one set to be tubed, to run for commuting and general on road riding, then also to be used as a backup set for racing with a change of tyres. And I want one set of cross racing wheels.
Is it worth going for tubs over tubeless for the racing set? and if so, what tub rims? if it makes a difference i'm using discs.

Is it worth going for tubs over tubeless for the racing set? and if so, what tub rims?
This depends on how much you think the performance advantage is worth, and how well you can cope with the hassle.
Having said that, a simple test that can pretty much rule tubs out is whether you plan to ride to races on them. Puncturing a tub on the way to a race...probably the only thing worse than puncturing a tub in a race :)
Rims depend on budget but it's a good application for Chinese carbon.

Why not tubeless for commute etc?

Go either tubeless and tubeless, or tubular and tubeless. You can always run a tubeless compatible wheel with tubes, so you're not really sacrificing anything.
With discs make sure you use the same hubs across both wheelsets as disc rotor alignment isn't always exactly the same across manufacturers, which can cause rubs or worse when swapping wheels out in a rush.
I'd probably go with identical tubeless wheel builds, with the commuting/on-road riding/training set 32h and the racing set 24h.

thanks for the advice everyone.
I think it'll be a tubeless set of race wheels 24h that'll always have cross tyres fitted. Then a tubeless compatible set of road / commuter wheels that'll usually be fitted with tubes so I can easily swap between road tyres and cross tyres so they commute during the week then with they tyres swapped over can be my spare set for races at the weekend.
thanks for the advice on the hubs - handn't thought of that

I've changed my mind - one set of tubs and one of clinchers. what are mavic reflex like for cross? if no, then what light tubs are suitable? Preferably alu as I'd like to build them myself and I'm not confident enough for carbon.
We managed to get some good shots of your guys in action at the LCCA team champs yesterday at http://bikesy.co.uk/features/galleries/london-cyclo-cross-league-team-championships-photos-2016/
Good effort by everyone, not an easy course to ride on one gear.
