Anyone tried the wiggle own brand hydration tablets?
Any good?
I've been using nuun but have decided they are too pricey to justify (I bought them when on offer) and also they are no longer available in the uk is a factor. -

I'm not going to read seven pages of discussion about salt to see if it's been mentioned before, but as a big sweaty person, I can highly recommend this stuff. I find it's particularly good for using in hydration bladders ( Camelback, etc ) as it leaves no residue behind.
Works out cheap and no dodgy flavours ( unless you add your own ).

They do the job. I cycle in Hong Kong where its fucking sweaty and the Wiggle tablets do me for riding and the gym.
Not too sure how the taste compares to Nuun SiS without giving them a side by side test but I think I have the lemon ones and they're inoffensive enough.

That's what I wanted to hear. Thanks. Knew they'd do the job. Was just concerned they would taste like syrup or ass. Inoffensive is what I'm after. Ordered the strawberry and the orange so we shall see.

My patner and I don't like the flavour of SIS or Wiggle hydration tablets. Nuun tastes cleaner.

Zipvit Watermelon are legit. But I still have quite the Nuun stash to work through.

Now you tell me =[
For £5 for 40 tablets they are worth a try. Compared to nuun at usually around £4 for 12 tablets... I love nuun but I've decided that's a bit pricey for some salt and stuff...

Ok. So after trying the wiggle stuff. I'm tempted to spend the extra on nuun... It wasn't terrible but they all seem to taste very strong and syrup-y. Almost like a flat Fanta or coke. Not what I want. Ah well...

it's too cloying was our experience too
-
• #187
That's a very good word to describe it. Nuun it is!

Nuun is fucking pricey, though it is da best. It seems to be getting increasingly hard to find, or is that just me? Coz of both the above points, I've defected to SIS and am getting on ok with it.
Plus SIS have become the Pizza Express of sports nutition - there's always a deal on. You can normally get a tube of 20 for around £3-4. Only three flavours though....

Aldi for a while did some. Surprisingly palatable. Added caffeine too...

Of course if you want cheap and you don't care about taste, I think you can get Dioralyte for very little from Boots. Put a splash of squash in it to add fruitiness.
Dioralyte is for when you've shat and/or sweated yourself dehydrated from illness and can't keep much down i.e. electrolytes.

Skratch stuff is good, has a nice, natural flavour, just wish they did some version here without the sugar...

I was a bit annoyed to find that Nuun are basically pulling out of the UK market for the forseeable. I've not tried Wiggle but found the SIS failed on being too cloying and also on a long audax ride the tablets would disintegrate into powder leaving you no idea how much to stick in a bottle.
Not sure on High5 so when I went into Evans I picked up a tube of OTE. Can't find a review but will try one this evening and let you know.
Zipvit is OK but I'm not keen on Watermelon and would prefer a tube rather than blister packets.

Pleased to report that the OTE tabs are good. They're a bit sweeter and stronger in flavour but not cloying and they seem to work well. The tablets do take about three-four minutes to dissolve but that's hardly onerous.

Thanks for the update. After finding the wiggle own brand a little 'cloying' I'm now waiting for a tube of nectar fuel systems tabs to arrive. Will update on these.
In the hunt for a nuun replacement I'm probably spending more than I can currently get nuun for...

I have half a tube of Nuun lemon + lime going spare if you want it? They are just out of date (April 16) but I'm not going to use them as I didn't like them much.

The Wiggle ones have a warning not to have more than 3 in 48 hours or something stupid.
Kept me awake for 3 nights after having 8 in 24 hours during some long rides in Spain last month. I usually use same quantity High5 with no reaction
Threw them in the bin

Thanks for the offer but it's ok. I'm not desperate for nuun as such, just looking for an alternative once U.K. Stocks dry up... Still looking...

So...
In the hunt for a nuun alternative I have tried a few brands. 1 has come close with the rest being pretty cloying and/or full of sugar.
High5 zero is the front runner at the moment but still leaves the teeth feeling a little hairy despite having zero sugar.

It's not saying carry fluids during a hill climb it's saying being dehydrated beforehand negatively impacts performance. I used to race TTs dehydrated on purpose, thinking the extra couple of kilos might buy me a second or two but they probably hindered me. Luckily I never have to race one again.
