M177 is the traditional straight drop bar.
B177 (doodle) has a nice shape in my opinion as it the top bar goes a bit backwards and downwards at the same time

It sounds like you were given some duff gen. The M177 is the Noodle and isn't a standard drop bar, it has the backward sweep and slight downward slope of the flats too. Look at the images here and at the original Rivendell page where it's called the Model (M?) 177.

The B135 is a traditional Randonneur bar, so it's a different kettle of fish.

Apologies, not at the moment, since I can't see a reason to pay the extra cash. If someone knows better and the B177 is a different bar that is better in some way I may be interested in the 44cm ones.
