if it gets very squared off i tend to find cornering in the wet seems to become a little more exciting
I've experienced a bit of that already, which is why I'm asking. It's amazing how much your arse grabs the saddle when your back wheel starts skipping out in a corner immediately in front of a construction lorry.

@greenhell
Am off to South Africa for honeymoon next month.
Hire cars - are there anythings you'd suggest to go for/avoid?
This will be for driving around Cape Town and then down the Garden Route, dropping the car off in George and flying back to Cape Town.
Also anythings you'd suggest we do with that itinerary?
We are booked in for meals at the Test Kitchen, Terroir and Tasting Rooms.
Neither of us drink so wine tours aren't relevant.
Anywhere good to hire mountain bikes...

hire cars - suffice to say you need one, i think we just went with good old AVIS last time. just picked up / dropped off the fucker at the air harbour and off we went - got a little hatch back, does the job. you want something that's reliable and moderately comfy considering the mileage you'll be racking up. make sure one of you knows how to change a tyre as some roads can be in a bit of a parlous state. maybe ask for something with bike rack mounts.
for mountain biking i'd recommend hooking up with one of the many MB tour groups that operate off of long street (i imagine) - sure they might be a bit touristy but you really should avoid twatting down Table Mountain on your tod. Your guide will know the least death-y routes and there's safety in numbers.
http://capemountainbikingtours.com/ - cant vouch for them but they come up first in google. i'll ask my mate who's into the scene there if he has any pro-tipz.
as far as LOLS are concerned - most of the touristy stuff is actually worth doing and you don't need to be off your tits to enjoy them.
In CT id recommend variously:
Cable car up the mountain - tho check the weather (if you're feeling brave you can hike back down - again, weather permitting. not a year goes by when some soutpiel doesn't kark it from hypothermia or twats off a cliff because clouds)
a drive along the coast to simon's town / kalk bay / boulders beach (penguins!) / cape point and back.
climb lions head and watch the sun go down with all the white folks.
district six museum
the mount nelson hotel - a vast, pink monument to colonialism
the labia cinema - for the lols, obvs
Franschoek / Stellenbosch. Sure it's wine central but it's fucking pretty
Chapman's peak drive. extra points for doing it by steering with your knees only.
sandy bay - nudist beach... if you're into that sort of thing
a braai, if you can get invited to one (most sundays - just knock on someone's door)
avoid:
the waterfront
shark diving
township 'tours'
africa cafe / mama africa / anything with the word 'africa' in it.
most 'curios' - very few of them are made locally, especially the tat you get harangued into purchasing at Greenmarket Square etc.
being a dick if someone asks you for money for 'looking after your car' - a lot of people are living in the worst sort of grinding poverty with few prospects. sparing a few quid for what is arguably low-key blackmail is really neither here nor there for rich tourists like you and me.
have fun.

Stay clear of the cheep hire car places at the airport, they tend to rip you off for mystery scratches. Stick to Avis, Hertz etc. I probably wouldn't bother with a hire car when you are in Cape Town, use uber. For short journeys it's one or two pounds, was there a month ago working in a township 35km away and it was under £10 to get out there.
I'd recommend lions head in the morning too. Would recommend hiking table mtn (via kirstenbosch gardens or india vester), Devils peak (if you like the first two), Also silver mine/constantia nek is good
Surfing at muzenburg, Fish and chips and the bakery in Kalk bay round that way are good too.
Bikes we rented from here http://www.capetowncyclehire.co.za/
We did the Chapmans peak drive, boulders beach (penguins) and cape point on rented vespas. Wind and rain got up and it was pretty risky but if its sunny and not windy would be good.
Everywhere seemed to sell burgers and the best of them were, Hudsons, Royal Eatery and The dogs bollocks (which does good breakfast, lunch and coffee and is a bit different)
Addis in Cape Town was a decent Ethiopian restaurant
Takumi was good (to a western palette) sushi, reasonably priced too.
Truth coffee was best coffee
Nandos!Loads of bars on Long Street (Which is pretty tacky but a laugh), Bree street and Loop street as well (First Thursday of every month all the galleries open late and the bars around here are very busy)
Woodstock is nice, biscuit mill is worth a visit for a borough market feel at about 1/3 of the price.
I would agree with the avoid things. People ask for money a lot. I also felt like the train station was a bit dangerous. Don't walk alone, if in doubt get an uber!
If you have a spare 5 days I would recommend driving up to the Orange River for a canoeing trip. Which was amazing, sleeping under the stars, canoeing through a mars like landscape. Recommend Amanzi River Trails if you fancy that.
Cederberg is also amazing if you want to get out in the wild. We stayed in Krakadouw cottages near Clan William which were rustic but beautiful.
I think thats it....

Has anyone had any experience outsourcing 3D rendering to these server farm companies?

Does having a 1 1/8" threaded headset mean I'll be able to fit 1 1/8" forks if i replace the headset with something for threadless forks, or is it just another inconvenience?
-
• #76342
1⅛" threadless fork will fit a frame which currently has a 1⅛" threaded fork, you only need to change the upper part of the headset.

How can I tell how long a film will be on for at a Vue cinema? It only lets you book for 7 days ahead.

This bike is very distinctive and must be found ASAP
Please contact if found or seen!!

Cinema runs are determined by demand, not fixed schedules. If nobody goes, they might pull it after a week. If it's packing them in, they'll extend the run. This is particularly the case now with multiple screens and digital projection, since the cinema can easily add screens for a popular title and drop an unpopular one without having to get additional prints delivered.

Can anyone explain Bootstrap to me?
I usually use wordpress based themes with web-based builders (think Elegant Themes' Divi) but thought I'd try something new for a project and found a bootstrap theme to get me started.
I downloaded a theme from wrapbootstrap which is essentially a folder contained various html files and some css stuff.
What would I edit this with? Are there any tools recommended? I have Dreamweaver with me CC subscription but I haven't used it for years. Would like something fairly idiot proof where I see more front end changes happening live rather than a page of code. If this ain't bootstrap then don't be afraid to say and I'll head back to Wordpress/other.

Notepad is the #tester_approved option. Although it's not stated in the documentation, I find that it works perfectly well for .css and .php files as well as the .html and .js files mentioned. Also great for any .xml (e.g. for RSS feeds) or related files, such as .gpx, .kml and Garmin .tcx for navigation, .svg graphics, .xslt for web page formatting, and even .dxf and .iges CAD files and CAM G-Code. In fact, there are literally hundreds of file types which Notepad can edit :-)

Can anyone explain Bootstrap to me?
From my - admittedly brief - experience, it appears to be a responsive front end framework.
Would like something fairly idiot proof where I see more front end changes happening live rather than a page of code.
I'm not sure Bootstrap gives you this - I think it's more for devs who want to get a load of utility and style stuff for free, and then wire it together as they see fit. Using vi, no doubt.
I'm kidding about vi.
