OK SO this bike is way fun and I can almost wheelie. Help me buy stuff:
I'm asking in the wheels thread and the tyres thread about replacing the wheels and tyres, surprisingly...
Tempted by some cheapy eBay carbon clinchers, with WTB Nanos for adventuring / cross and then SOMETHING ELSE for winter roadie duties. Any better ideas?
Also, what mudguards will fit on this, for aforementioned winter roadie duties?

Innertube or bartape on chainstay?

Can you put up a few tyre clearance shots? The main weakness of my boardman apart from the weight is the lack of tyre clearance!

Elite bottle cage doesn't fit cause of the FD hanger? Get the Dremel out.

Any areas specifically? I've got a fist sized space around the tyre pretty much everywhere on 35c

Bottle cage mount on the Defy came with a couple of spacers and longer bolts so it didn't come into contact with the fd mount. Maybe some brake block shims (like you get on v brake pads) would work.

Yeah, I had it spaced out to ride home from the LBS, but fuck that. It sits flush now.

Big tyres for the winter pew pew pew
Got some Ritchey cross bars in the post and I think a longer stem is all I need for now. Want to single ring the ting but there are few solutions that don't look fucking shocking. Might be new cranks time.

I am looking at it like this:
10/10 bike tho.
Absoluteblack does 4 arm shimano chainrings that will go on that 105 crank.
Great addition to #staffbikes series.

I'm curious about
Polishing masterclass from the old man and we are reaching mirror finish levels.
Care to share the process? This looks as good as those ball burnished alloy GTs from the 90s. Great job.

Can't quite remember what this was about now - the only thing that springs to mind is just how to use brasso properly. It needs to penetrate the surface of the metal, so you have to work it in as if you're kneading bread almost. Really does take some elbow grease, it's not like polishing bar brass.

Not the most helpful geo chart in the world. It's quite a large small.

Yeah - they come up quite big, I am 6ft and ride a M with a 110mm Stem
Was considering using a Guiness can, other alcoholic drinks are available.
@MechaMorgan, I wrapped an old innertube around my driveside chainstay to stop the clattering and any damage it may cause.
