keeping a squad/team together and adding extra pieces can be the difference between winning a league and mid table scrabble
I think you mean winning the league and avoiding relegation

Your trolling is like your wallet - lightweight!
At least his trolling sees the light of day

Wear red trousers. He'll find you.

I was being kind!
Just realised you were talking about Leicester. Precisely. Pretty much the same squad that finished previous season strongly, couple of new additions and a tactical tweak and suddenly winning things is possible.
You can look at the work that Unai Emery has done with Sevilla, they still lose players at the end of the season (not as many as when he was managing Valencia), but the core stays the same, and they reinvest the money wisely, and they want to win trophies, so they are in the final for the 3rd Europa League in a row.

Southampton in the same time have produced...Rodriguez
They bought Jay Rodriquez from Burnley, for quite a bit of money IIRC.

• #128035
What age was he when they brought him? I'm not as much of a southampton fan to know where all their products come from, so can't claim too much knowledge of how many "true" academy products they churn out.
I'm hoping in a decade or so that the Spurs academy is as good..
-
• #128036
23 or so, he'd already played upwards of a hundred first team games for us and they paid about £7m.
-
• #128037
apologies, definitely not an academy product then...
-
• #128038
Usually compromise means the club sells the player for large profit and then spunks said large fee on shite replacement...
Isn't that what your lot and Liverpool are famous for?

every team's done it, what did your lot spend the lampard/ferdinand/cole money on?
Sure there's some godawful buys in there..To be honest of the seven or so we brought with the bale money, Eriksen, Chadli, Lamela, have all contributed to our current success so... (shrugs)

That Everton one is completely flawed and unfinished
Garbutt was from Leeds
Baines was from Wigan
Mustafi was from SchalkeTo name a few...
No Hibbert, Osman, Rooney or Barkley on there either?!

The Ferdinand money famously went on upgrades to a stand.
The Lumpolard cash went on covering debts and the YJC money was just frittered on Don Hutchison's pension plan and Nigel Quashie.
-
• #128047
Nigel Quashie, ouch. If it makes you feel better we paid £2.5m for him, in 1998.
-
• #128048
He came to us, played half-a-dozen or so times as a sub and then picked up a foot injury that kept him in the treatment room for nearly two seasons.
Last seen hanging out the back of women in Iceland whilst playing in their top division.
Holds the dubious record of being relegated with every Premiership club he's ever played for.

Brighton suffering four injuries in the play of semi and down to ten men before conceding a second goal. Now that is a what you call a hangover blow from not getting automatic spot. Sheff Wednesday maintaining their 100% play off record.

our current success
Remind me what you've won?
Going to Stamford Bridge on Sunday, anyone know where Clive sits?
