  • as I write I'm in hospital for 24 hrs after a pit bull type dog bite in the early hrs this morning

luckily, it bit from the front, so manage to pull jaws apart and kick it straight in the face
they don't stitch dog bites, and am in to see if it's infected or needs to go into theater as inside bite is quite deep
that red master looks lovely, looking forward to seeing it done

  • Crikey! Ouch again.

That looks sore. Hope you don't have to endure more than a patch up.

    Get well soon

  • cheers!

  • Cleaned up the early master today. Not much more really than some t-cut, 00 grade steel wool on the chrome and some polish.

  • Interesting profile to the rear chainstays, just about see it from the pictures. Haven't seen that on a master before but haven't seen an early one in the flesh to notice it

  • just changed the running gear from Campag to SRAM force - don't like to admit it but it is good :(

  • fine work @JusCos !

  • Cheers.
    How's the leg?

  • better thanks, bandages off, stiches out next week, ride again the week after!

  • can't say i've seen those on these stays

with the seat stay cap lettering, as you said nuovo has, which was always the master precursor, so, as you say, this is one of the first generation masters,
    edit
my eyes/screen trick me that it's saronni red, not sure,
this one here purports to be from '84,has the flat, non round stay caps, but the top of the line in the catalog was the nuovo afaik

  • Leg still looks nasty! You'll have a nice scar to tell the tale for a while I guess.

The Saronni master in the picture sure looks the same. Mine is definately flat red but first photo of it taken outside at dusk does portray Saronni.

Interesting that Nuovo was still flagged as top of the range when the master was first introduced. Kind of indicative of Colnago taking forward an inferior model as their range topper??

  • my point was that the master did not feature in that catalog ,afaik, it's 82-83,maybe 84,perhaps it was top of tree in 85 or 86 catalogs, which i have yet to find online
i don't think the nouvo can be classed as an inferior model
asfaik, it's what saronni actualy won one, and the evolved into the master chronologically, nouvo predates master and was top of tree, ceased production when the master was introduced
the last incarnation of a mexico corsa was the esa in circa 88

  • Ah sorry missed the point there. I'll have to do some research as well then to see earliest catalogued Masters.
