Not necessarily.

Criteria:

Fun / fast
Good on motorway
Comfortable
Shiny tech (mainly very good sat nav / speakers)
Decent enough boot / folding seats
Room for 4 people min.

I can get over having a shit MPG but it can't be something ridiculous like 20 mpg.
