Too epic.
My good news is that I fixed the fuel relay that died. I was worried I'd have to replace the pump too but just the relay fixed it.
Off to Castle Combe tomorrow, it's not a full trackday, it's a static show with a bit of track time. Not my normal bag but it's a chance to catch up with some friends and get a bit of track time in.

Looking for a new car when i get back from holiday in a few weeks.
Will almost certainly be a new 430d xDrive. Something like this:
Anything else in that performance / price bracket i should consider?

i can't go to asda now :(

Whilst I'm obviously a massive fan of BMW's, I'm not a fan of the bowel-shattering depreciation on new cars.
I'd look for something maybe slightly less expensive, but more fun. Like a Porsche or an M3.
-
• #27958
I don't disagree but I've been looking at used ones for a few months now and I haven't found a single one with all the specs I want yet.
I need something more practical than the Porsche and with better mpg than the m3.
-
• #27959
The exact specs are the compromise that you'd have to make.
-
• #27960
That's the thing though. I don't have to make that compromise. I don't have a problem affording a new one and I'm not massively fussed about depreciation. I'd likely keep this for 50k miles anyway so would get plenty of value out of it.

Diesel x drive?
I'm out
-
• #27962
I didn't read the bit that said "diesel".
-
• #27963
If you can suggest something as fun / practical for less than £45k, I'm listening. :)
-
• #27964
Does it have to be a diesel?
-
• #27965
Not necessarily.
Criteria:
Fun / fast
Good on motorway
Comfortable
Shiny tech (mainly very good sat nav / speakers)
Decent enough boot / folding seats
Room for 4 people min.I can get over having a shit MPG but it can't be something ridiculous like 20 mpg.
-
• #27967
OK, technically that's got four seats, but two are only useful for midgets and small children.

• #27968
Jag xf? xfr diesel?
-
• #27969
Not as cool as the old ones either. Straight six or gtfo.

Gumtree have an alfa 75, v6..3.0 not usual 2.5 for a 1k....future classic?
Also 131 abarth volumetrico anyone there seem to be two available and look lke real fun cars but will probably go to investors.

.... that's only going to get around 20mpg if i push it most of the way.
-
• #27973
Really not a fan of Jags, apart from the new F Type which doesn't meet the rest of the requirements.
-
• #27974
And it is a Maserati, after all.

Hmm... they look lovely but you can't seriously suggest one of those after saying you don't like new car depreciation.
Even a used one of those is going to drop like a stone tied to an even bigger stone, fired downwards by a canon.
