Boxing with a Psyclepath

I'm central too, not too far off at St Paul Evans, I have a route in my head involved going through Clapham, Wimbledon, Kingston, then Effingham.

The train usually goes from one of the low numbered platforms, we should meet near the ticket machines up that end of the concourse.

Hope it was a good ride! Weather was lovely albeit a bit chilly once the sun went down.

You have no worries about being slow as I've bonked quite horribly during the ride and literally held everyone up.

Great ride - might have been a cheeky macdonalds on the way home...

Matt that was really fun, cheers for the lead out and letting me peel off at the end. That's a great route. Here's a few pics, I think Howard got a nice dreamy soft focus one, too

I don't. I hunt through the instagram code for the image source then hot-link hit here.

I actually thing the flickr linking is better, more control over image size without having to edit the photo.

anyway did I say thanks Matt? I had a lot lot of fun. and cheers to @edscoble for the quiet-ish ride out with towpath, icecream stop and bonus loop around Effingham. 11/10 would Surrey 3 again.

Having had a bit of time to reflect I think that route works pretty well. I was a bit anxious about the timing but turned out we had plenty of time for a pint or two and still get the last train.

Going up to Abinger the climb is nice, winding, and atmospheric and makes the drag up to Leath feel much flatter than it does on the 5 hills. It also means that the run along the top to Coldharbour is in daylight so you can really blat along and you get the view if you know where the lookout is. The cyclepath alongside the A24 worked well and who doesn't like making silly noises in an underpass? Box Hill is a lovely climb to do fixed, so satisfying to churn up it tapping out a nice regular rhythm and the "return" section has a secluded valley feel. The climb after West Humble was a shocker but the steep section is mercifully short. Although taking the tight line at the hairpin was a mistake, suddenly felt like I was cycling up a flight of stairs.

Great company as always and good to have @edscoble out on his first TNRC/WNKR/ThNKR/DaRK ride.
