• Looking to find out more about this tandem, which a friend picked up a year ago off ebay, and wants me to help restore with him:

    nice fillet brazing:

    Chatter-Lea Cottered Cranks:

    Mafac brakes:

Wheels are ISO/ETRTO 590 (the other other 26")

The only lugs are at the tops of the seat tubes (unless you count the fork crown as well), and they are cut out.
Geo is clearly for a shorter stoker, and the wheel base is pretty compact overall
Other components are probably not original (RD is Shimano 600, DT shifter looks to be 60's campag?...)

Any guesses what it might be? What components are worth keeping to restore? Obviously a lot of work needs to go into removing rust (all superficial by the looks of it though), but would be good to know how much effort its worth putting into the project...

  • Maybe try asking the tandem thread? Also, fillet brazing is fairly common on tandems as most tandems were custom made/custom geo, and no one made lugs for this

  • good shout - that makes sense that lugs would be rarer for these... will have a look through the tandem frame and possibly try to take some better pics before posting there...
